Company

robertROBERT GREER, Ballet Master, has performed with Ballet Montana since the company's inception as Artisan Dance in 1995. He is a California native who has danced throughout the United States for the past 18 years, first as a trainee with Milwaukee Ballet and later with Augusta Ballet, Charleston Ballet Theater, and Ballet Idaho. Robert's perennial return to Helena is like a coming home where his passion for the art of ballet is shared with the artists of Ballet Montana. He currently lives and works in San Francisco as a freelance dancer and teacher.

justinHALLIET SLACK, originally from Louisiana, started training in ballet at North Carolina School of the Arts, where she was enrolled for four years. She continued her studies at Boston Ballet School, Houston Ballet Academy, and Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, and began her professional career with Richmond Ballet, where she resided for five years. Halliet is currently enjoying her eighth year as a member of Dayton Ballet, and she is thrilled to return to the stage with Ballet Montana for her fifth summer season.

bryanCHRISTY FOREHAND began her training in Champaign, Illinois, and graduated from Virginia School of the Arts. She first danced professionally with Charleston Ballet Theatre, performing principle roles in Balanchine, Bahr, and Connor ballets. Christy then went on to dance principle roles with Augusta Ballet and Dayton Ballet, including Sugar Plum in The Nutcracker, and Black Swan and Wendy in Septime Webre's Swan Lake and Peter Pan. This is Christy's fourth season performing with Ballet Montana, and she looks forward to another exciting summer of learning and dancing.

keenanEDUARD FOREHAND began training at nine with Thomas Armour in Miami. He continued his studies at Nutmeg Conservatory, and accepted his first contract with Richmond Ballet. Edward has performed with Charleston Ballet Theatre, Augusta Ballet, and Dayton Ballet, where he danced lead roles in Carmina Burana, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, and Thresholds II. Currently, Eduard is performing with Louisville Ballet, dancing principle roles in La Bayadere, Caniparoli's The Seasons, and Seiwert's Smiling Underneath. Eduard is very happy to be joining Ballet Montana for his fourth season and looks forward to more wonderful works.

caseNATHAN POWELL is from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he received his early dance training. At sixteen he moved to Winnipeg to study at Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, dancing on tour with the school throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. He received an RBC Youth Excellence Scholarship in 2006 as a member of Festival Dance at the Banff Centre, and performed with Northern Plains Ballet before joining Festival Ballet Providence for three seasons under Mihailo Djuric. Nathan has since danced with Ballet San Antonio and Ballet Idaho, and is spending his fifth summer with Ballet Montana.

nathanKEENAN McLAREN was born in Richmond, Virginia, but hails from Boston, where she trained from age eight to 18 at Boston Ballet School. She began her professional career at Ballet Austin II before joining Dayton Ballet from 2005 through 2010, enjoying roles in Fleming's The Who's Tommy, Robinson's Corazon, and Hineline's Thresholds II. Keenan performed as a principal dancer with BalletFleming in Philadelphia last season, and will be joining Nashville Ballet in the fall. She has been dancing classical and contemporary works with Ballet Montana since 2007.

erikaMEGAN STEFFENS grew up in Schaumburg, Illinois. She trained for two years on full scholarship at Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida before joining Ballet Austin as a trainee in 2005 and then Sacramento Ballet as a company member from 2007 through 2010. Megan has just completed her first year with Company C Contemporary Ballet in Walnut Creek, California, where she will return this fall. She is looking forward to performing her fourth summer season with Ballet Montana.

halietEDWARD McPHERSON took class at 14 with Lisa Applegate in Davis, California, and completed high school at Michigan's Interlochen Arts Academy. He studied at Contra Costa Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Ballet Austin, and Kaatsbaan prior to his first professional role in Peoria Ballet's The Nutcracker. He danced with Ballet West for three seasons and then joined Ballet Austin, valuing both the large- and small-company environments. He has additionally performed with Utah Festival Opera, Metropolitan Ballet of Minneapolis, The Opera Company in Chicago, and Sacramento Ballet. Edward is a dedicated ballet teacher now working out of San Antonio.

royHOLLY CURRAN is from Lambertville, New Jersey. She began her training at Princeton Ballet and Princeton Dance and Theatre with Susan Jaffe before attending North Carolina School of the Arts and the Rock School in Philadelphia. She danced professionally with Ballet Austin II, Terra Firma Dance Theatre, and the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, and has performed contemporary works by Pickett, Zendejas, and Rushton at Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out series. Holly majored in dance as a Presidential Scholar at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and is currently a principal dancer with BalletFleming in Philadelphia.

meganSTEPHANIE WOLF is an Atlanta native who trained with Atlanta Ballet Center and on full scholarship at Houston Ballet Academy. She has danced professionally with Minnesota Ballet and James Sewell Ballet, performing Balanchine, de Mille, Tudor, Sewell, Hart, and Thatcher. Currently Stephanie works in New York City as a freelance dancer, and is looking forward to her upcoming season with the Metropolitan Opera. She is also a freelance writer, co-founder of the DIYdancer site, and, thanks to the New York City Public Transit System, able to quench her thirst for reading.

royISHA LLOYD is a Helena native who studied privately with Sallyann Mulcahy for seven years before moving to Seattle as a trainee with Pacific Northwest Ballet. While there, the directors of Sacramento Ballet saw her dance and offered her a position with the company. Isha has enjoyed performing lead roles in Cunningham's Bolero, Stowell’s Swan Lake, Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs, Smuin’s Frankie & Johnny, York's Celts, and Mulcahy’s Trois Femme and Separation. She has danced numerous world premieres by choreographers such as Seiwert, Kabaniaev, Moultrie, and Neenan. Isha teaches Pilates and enjoys cooking, trapshooting, and traveling.

meganTIM HOLMES painted the giant book pages that comprise the background for Ballet Montana's The Inquisition of Don Miguel. He is the first American artist ever to exhibit solo at The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, where his sculptures remain on permanent exhibit. Tim's collectors include Coretta Scott King, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Jimmy Carter, and President Vaclav Havel. As an artist inspired by the human figure, Tim has closely followed Sallyann Mulcahy's work with ballet in Montana, often sketching her dancers and employing them as models.
